Public phones are available almost everywhere; most of which are card phones. These telephone cards are available for sale at most bookshops and local convenient shops. They will also allow for overseas calls.

All persons coming into Singapore for the first time should bring along sufficient funds to last till the end of the month when you receive your first salary. You should be prepared for rent, transport, food, etc. Sufficient funds would minimize any necessary hassle.
